Short answer: For gaming hardware and accessory brands, the international shows to consider first are gamescom in Cologne (late August; 2027 dates as reported by trade press), Tokyo Game Show near Tokyo (planned for 16–20 September 2027) and COMPUTEX in Taipei (1–4 June 2027). PAX East in Boston is a fan show, BitSummit in Kyoto is built around indie games, and gamescom asia in Bangkok and ChinaJoy in Shanghai cover Southeast Asia and China. For Japanese gaming media, Tokyo Game Show is where editors are on the floor, and its press rules mean editors must be invited, not registered by your agency.

The calendar at a glance

Most of these are game shows first. Hardware brands exhibit alongside publishers, so check that the show has an area for peripherals, and whether its trade days or its public days serve you better. Figures are organizer-reported unless noted and come from the latest completed edition.

The shows, one by one

gamescom: Cologne's trade and consumer games show

gamescom is organized by game, the German games industry association, with Koelnmesse. The 2026 edition, held in late August, drew about 368,000 visitors from 131 countries, short of the 2019 record of 373,000. It had more than 36,000 trade visitors, about half from abroad, and 1,743 exhibitors from 66 countries, 72% of them from outside Germany. Its roughly 233,000 sqm sold out for the first time (PocketGamer.biz, September 2026).

According to trade press, the 2027 event week runs from 23 to 29 August, with gamescom dev on 23–24 August and halls open to visitors from 25 to 29 August (PocketGamer.biz; Südostschweiz, 2026, in German). We couldn't read the official site to confirm, and which 2027 day is reserved for trade visitors isn't published.

Costs: no public per-sqm rate. Trade press reported an early-bird discount of €15 per sqm for business and entertainment areas in 2026 (GamesMarket). Suits: peripherals, chairs, audio and PC hardware aimed at European players. Watch out: space sold out in 2026, so book early.

Tokyo Game Show: the Japanese gaming market in one place

Tokyo Game Show is organized by CESA (Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association), with Nikkei BP as co-organizer. TGS2026 was planned for 17–21 September 2026 at Makuhari Messe, with business days on 17–18 September and public days from 19 September. The final day was canceled on site because of Typhoon No. 25, so the show ran four days and drew 257,642 visitors. It had a record 1,138 exhibitors from 53 countries and regions and a record 3,673 business matchings (GameBusiness.jp, September 2026, in Japanese). CESA has announced TGS2027 as planned for 16–20 September 2027 at Makuhari Messe; the business and public day split isn't published yet.

Costs: for 2026, a 3 m × 3 m standard booth, including in the gaming hardware corner, cost ¥400,000 excluding tax (¥300,000 for CESA members), space only, with the base booth and electrical work extra. A 2 m × 2 m turnkey booth cost ¥300,000 excluding tax for non-members. Cancellation cost 50% of the fee from 23 May 2026 and 100% from 9 June (TGS2026 exhibitor guide, in Japanese). 2027 fees and deadlines aren't published yet.

Suits: controllers, headsets, chairs and gaming lifestyle products launching in Japan, because business days reach buyers and media and public days reach players. Watch out: most material is in Japanese, and Japanese-speaking staff are essential on public days.

COMPUTEX: PC gaming hardware and components

COMPUTEX 2027 runs from 1 to 4 June in Taipei, across Nangang (TaiNEX 1 and 2), TWTC Hall 1 and TICC, and its official application kit lists a Consumer & Gaming Products area. Rates are published; see the COMPUTEX 2027 guide. COMPUTEX 2026 reported 111,312 buyers and visitors from 152 countries and regions, not audited. It's a trade show. Suits: PC peripherals and components looking for distributors and OEM partners.

BitSummit: Kyoto's indie game festival

BitSummit 2027, the 15th edition, runs from 21 to 23 May at Miyako Messe in Kyoto, per GameBusiness.jp. 21 May is a business day for developers, publishers, media and sponsors, and 22–23 May are public days. Exhibitor entries close on 31 January 2027 at 16:00 JST, per GameBusiness.jp, with a review fee of ¥2,750 per title (GameBusiness.jp, October 2026, in Japanese). The 2026 edition drew a record 68,208 attendees, and its 125 general exhibitors were chosen from about 548 submissions (gamedev.net, May 2026).

Watch out: entries are game titles. For a hardware brand, the realistic routes are sponsorship or partnering with an exhibiting developer; ask the organizer, as terms aren't published.

PAX East: meeting American players

PAX East 2027, run by ReedPop, takes place from 22 to 25 April 2027 (as reported by Popverse) at the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center in Boston (Popverse). It's a fan show with no trade-only days, and we found no published attendance figures or stand prices; the organizer quotes on request. Suits: accessories that sell through demos and word of mouth among US players. PAX West 2026 was held in Seattle from 4 to 7 September 2026; 2027 dates aren't confirmed by the organizer.

gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show: Southeast Asia

The 2026 edition runs from 29 October to 1 November 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. A business area for developers, publishers, platforms and investors runs on 29–30 October; the entertainment area, which includes hardware, opens from 30 October to 1 November (TCEB event preview). 2027 dates aren't published. If you can't attend, look at the results when published to decide whether Southeast Asia belongs in your 2027 plan.

ChinaJoy: the Chinese market

ChinaJoy 2026 ran from 31 July to 3 August 2026 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC), with a consumer hall and a separate business hall; before the show, about 900 exhibitors from 39 countries and regions were expected (Inven Global, July 2026). Chinese event listings give 30 July to 2 August 2027, but we couldn't confirm this with the organizer. Treat the dates as unconfirmed.

How to Reach Japanese Media Around These Shows

Tokyo Game Show is where Japanese gaming editors gather. Journalists register themselves before opening day, and the organizer may decline registrations from PR companies (TGS2026 press page), so your job is to give them a reason to come: a Japanese release with your booth number, a fixed demo slot and hands-on units on business days.

Know who covers hardware. Japanese games trade press such as gamebiz and GameBusiness.jp reports TGS attendance and industry news. Impress runs GAME Watch alongside PC Watch and AKIBA PC Hotline!, which suit PC peripherals and components (Impress ad guide, in Japanese). Gadget and tech outlets cover accessories that work beyond games. See the Japanese tech media publishers guide and our guide to Japanese gadget websites.

For shows outside Japan, send a separate Japanese release. Japan is 7 hours ahead of Cologne in August, 13 hours ahead of Boston in April, and 1 hour ahead of Taipei. Release in Japanese business hours, with the Japanese price and availability, rather than waiting for editors to pick up English coverage. If you set an embargo, state the time in Japan Standard Time.

Localize what players see. Japanese packaging, button labels, software and support matter to reviewers. Wireless controllers and headsets may need Japanese radio certification (技適, giteki) before sale, so check before you pitch; see the Japan product compliance and license checklist.

Extend after the show. Follow up within days with every outlet that visited, offer review units in Japan, and use "shown at TGS" as a news peg with outlets that didn't attend. See trade show PR in Japan: before, during and after and turning a trade-show launch into Japanese media coverage.

Where Gloture fits

We help overseas gaming hardware and accessory brands prepare for Japanese media around Tokyo Game Show and other shows: Japanese releases and booth materials, invitations to the gaming and tech editors who cover your product, and review units and follow-up afterward. We don't register journalists on their behalf, book stands or staff booths. Product PR in Japan starts from US$2,500. We don't guarantee coverage or reviews. Frequently asked questions

Is Tokyo Game Show worth it for a hardware brand?

It is if you plan to sell in Japan. The 2026 show had a gaming hardware corner and business days for buyers and media, followed by public days. Without Japanese materials, staff and a sales plan, the cost is hard to justify.

Can our PR agency register us or our team as press at Tokyo Game Show?

No. Press registration is for journalists and other media under the organizer's criteria, and TGS says it may decline registrations from advertising agencies and PR companies. Exhibitors register as exhibitors; your agency's role is to invite editors.

Are the 2027 gamescom dates confirmed?

Trade press reports an event week of 23–29 August 2027, with halls open to visitors from 25 to 29 August. We couldn't confirm this on the official site, and the trade-only day isn't published yet, so check gamescom's own announcements before booking travel.
