Short answer: The main Japanese gadget websites include ITmedia (Mobile and PC USER), the Impress Watch sites (PC Watch, AV Watch, Keitai Watch, Kaden Watch), ASCII.jp, GIZMODO JAPAN, Mynavi News, GetNavi web, PHILE WEB and Kakaku.com Magazine. No public third-party data compares their audiences on the same basis, so this guide groups them by specialty instead of ranking them. For product PR, choosing outlets that already cover your category, and giving them what they need in Japanese, matters more than size.

How we chose these sites

On 18 October 2026 we checked each site's homepage, latest articles, publisher and press-release route. The list includes Japanese-language web media that regularly cover gadgets, consumer electronics or digital products and are still publishing. It's an editorial selection, not a traffic ranking. Audience figures appear only where the publisher states them, and are labeled as publisher-reported.

Inclusion doesn't mean Gloture has coverage in, or a relationship with, any outlet. Modern-G is the exception: Gloture runs it (see below).

Publishers are as shown on each site in October 2026. Engadget Japanese and TechCrunch Japan closed in 2022, so older media lists that include them are out of date.

What each type of outlet is good for

Daily digital news (ITmedia, ASCII.jp, GIZMODO JAPAN, Mynavi News). These cover launches every day. They need a Japanese press release with the price, release date and where to buy in Japan. A product that isn't yet sold in Japan is much harder for them to cover.

Category specialists (PC Watch, AV Watch, Keitai Watch, Kaden Watch, PHILE WEB). Each has a dedicated editorial team and expert readers. Accurate specifications and a clear difference from existing products matter; a product outside their category rarely gets read.

Magazine-linked and product-led sites (GetNavi web, GoodsPress Web, 360LiFE, ROOMIE). These favor hands-on reviews, often tied to print magazines or test features. Review samples, and photos that show who uses the product and where, make the difference.

Data and industry sites (BCN+R, CNET Japan). Better for market context and company news than for a single product launch.

About Modern-G (owned by Gloture)

Modern-G is a gadget and technology media run by Gloture. Its editors cover new gadgets, AI, design and products from overseas crowdfunding campaigns; it published ten articles between mid-September and mid-October 2026.

Because we own it, treat Modern-G as separate from the independent outlets above. Gloture's Japan PR projects include a Modern-G feature, and Modern-G also sells paid placements. Modern-G doesn't publish page-view figures. Its value for an overseas brand is a Japanese article about the product on launch day, on Gloture's own media; it doesn't replace independent coverage.

How to approach Japanese gadget media

  • Use the official routes. ITmedia, the Impress Watch sites and Mynavi News, among others, publish where to send press releases. Some outlets have no public route; check each site.
  • Write in Japanese. Japanese editors work in Japanese; an English release is easy to set aside. See how to get Japanese media to cover your product.
  • Match the outlet. A tailored angle for each outlet works better than one text sent everywhere. For the broader media landscape, see Japan Tier 1 and Tier 2 media.
  • Be ready to sell. Price, release date, where to buy in Japan, certification where required, and review samples.
  • No guarantees. Editors decide what they cover. Sponsored articles are a separate, paid product.

Where Gloture fits

Gloture turns your product information into a Japanese product story, distributes a press release, approaches the outlets that fit your category, features the product on Modern-G and reports the coverage. We don't guarantee coverage in any outlet. Gloture's Product PR starts from US$2,500 (excl. applicable taxes).
