Short answer: The lifestyle, design and gift calendar is crowded into the first weeks of the year: Maison&Objet in Paris (14–18 January 2027, listed by trade sources; confirm on maison-objet.com), Ambiente and Christmasworld in Frankfurt (29 January–2 February), NY NOW in New York (31 January–2 February), Spring Fair in Birmingham (7–10 February) and Tokyo International Gift Show (24–26 February). Ambiente reported the most exhibitors of the group in 2026 and publishes its stand prices; Tokyo International Gift Show is a direct route to Japanese retail and distribution buyers. Salone del Mobile in April and interiorlifestyle Tokyo in June suit furniture and design-led brands.

The calendar at a glance

These are trade shows for retail buyers, wholesalers and designers, not consumer fairs, and most of them overlap or sit back to back. Few brands can do them all, so choose by the buyers you want to meet. Figures are organizer-reported unless noted and come from the latest completed edition.

The shows, one by one

Ambiente and Christmasworld: Frankfurt's consumer goods fairs

Messe Frankfurt runs Ambiente and Christmasworld from 29 January to 2 February 2027, with Creativeworld from 29 January to 1 February. Note the late-January start: the 2026 edition opened in February. Ambiente is organized into Dining, Living and Giving, plus Global Sourcing (Ambiente; Christmasworld 2027 press release).

The completed 2026 edition (6–10 February 2026) reported 95,503 Ambiente visitors and 3,703 exhibitors, with 72% of visitors from outside Germany, all organizer-reported (Messe Frankfurt facts sheet); the three shows together had 4,636 exhibitors and about 140,000 visitors (Ambiente 2026 facts and figures).

Costs: Ambiente is one of the few shows with a public price list. For 2027, after the early deadline of 27 March 2026, space costs €311 per sqm for a row stand (one side open), €373 for a corner, €385 for three sides open and €390 for an island. On top come a €4.40 per sqm environmental fee, a €0.60 per sqm AUMA charge, a compulsory €985 media package and VAT (Ambiente 2027 stand rental prices). By our arithmetic, a 12 sqm row stand comes to about €4,777 before VAT, for space only. For 2026, Messe Frankfurt also offered all-inclusive stands with construction and furniture: €6,400 for 12 sqm, €7,950 for 16 sqm and €10,650 for 24 sqm, plus VAT (Ambiente 2026 all-inclusive package). We haven't seen 2027 package prices.

Suits: tableware, kitchen, home, gift and seasonal products seeking international buyers. Watch out: the scale means you need appointments booked before you arrive.

Maison&Objet: design and decoration in Paris

Maison&Objet, run by SAFI, holds its January 2027 edition on 14–18 January 2027 (listed by trade sources; confirm on maison-objet.com) at Paris Nord Villepinte, with Business France buyer meetings on 15 and 16 January (Team France Export, in French). The January 2026 edition reported 67,286 professionals from 148 countries and 2,294 brands, 543 of them new (InteriorDaily). The September 2026 edition (10–14 September) has been held, but we found no published results.

Costs: SAFI publishes no stand price; the organizer quotes on request. One public reference is a national pavilion: the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) charged its exhibitors €300 per sqm plus VAT for a collective stand at the January 2026 edition, about €3,900 for a 13 sqm module including fit-out, power, Wi-Fi and an interpreter (ICE, in Italian). That's a subsidized pavilion rate, not SAFI's price. Suits: design-led home and decoration brands. Watch out: it comes two weeks before Ambiente, so budget for one or the other unless your buyers differ.

NY NOW: the US wholesale market

NY NOW, now run by Rockview Management Group, holds its Winter 2027 market from 31 January to 2 February at the Javits Center, in three sections: Gift & Lifestyle, Home, and Handmade. Attendees must qualify as buyers. The summer market follows on 1–3 August 2027 (NY NOW press release, August 2026). No visitor or exhibitor figures are published, and we found no public stand price. Suits: brands with US distribution or wholesale pricing ready. Watch out: it overlaps Ambiente's last days.

Spring Fair: UK independent retail

Spring Fair, run by Hyve, takes place from 7 to 10 February 2027 at the NEC in Birmingham. The organizer says it brings together more than 1,500 wholesale brands, and entry is free for retail buyers (Spring Fair). No verified visitor figures or stand prices are published. Suits: gift and home brands targeting UK independent shops and department stores.

Tokyo International Gift Show Spring: Japanese retail buyers

The 103rd Tokyo International Gift Show, organized by Business Guide-Sha, runs from 24 to 26 February 2027 at Tokyo Big Sight, alongside LIFE×DESIGN (Tokyo International Gift Show, in Japanese). The spring 2026 edition reported 1,584 exhibitors and 144,500 cumulative visitors (City of Sapporo, in Japanese, citing the organizer's results). Visitors are retail and distribution buyers.

Costs: ¥430,000 per 3 m × 3 m booth excluding tax (¥473,000 including tax), with wall panels, a name board and two chairs. Add an option deposit of ¥80,000 for one booth, settled after the show; a ¥150,000 application deposit counts toward the fee (Gift Show exhibitor fees, in Japanese). Suits: overseas brands looking for Japanese retailers or a distributor. Watch out: application paperwork is in Japanese. Our Japan trade show guide covers the requirements.

interiorlifestyle Tokyo: design-led interiors in June

Messe Frankfurt Japan holds interiorlifestyle Tokyo from 23 to 25 June 2027 at Tokyo Big Sight. The 2026 edition had 460 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions, 98 of them international, and 12,733 visitors, down from 483 exhibitors and 15,263 visitors in 2025. Its Young Designer Award winner was invited to exhibit at Ambiente 2027 (interiorlifestyle Tokyo final report, June 2026). Suits: smaller design brands that want curated Japanese buyers rather than a large hall.

Salone del Mobile.Milano and Design Shanghai

Salone del Mobile's 65th edition runs from 13 to 18 April 2027 at Fiera Milano Rho, with the biennial lighting show Euroluce and the first Salone Contract. In 2026 it had 915 exhibitors and 316,342 visitors from 167 countries; SaloneSatellite is reserved for designers under 35 (Salone del Mobile). It's a furniture show, a weak fit for small consumer goods.

Design Shanghai's 2027 dates appear only on event listings, with conflicting venues, so treat them as unconfirmed until the organizer publishes them.

Japanese monthly magazines work two to three months before on-sale (@Press, August 2025).

How to Reach Japanese Media Around These Shows

Plan around magazine lead times. Many Japanese lifestyle outlets are magazines, and monthly titles are made two to three months before they go on sale. A product shown in Frankfurt in late January is already too late for most spring issues, so brief editors before the show. Details are in our guide to Japanese magazines for product PR.

Pick outlets by the scene, not the category. Magazine House's Casa BRUTUS (design and interiors), BRUTUS and &Premium (everyday life and well-made things), and Mediagene's ROOMIE cover how an object lives in a home. Product magazines such as MonoMax, Begin and GoodsPress cover goods in roundups. See Japanese media for pet and lifestyle products for how each works.

Use Tokyo shows as the meeting point. At Tokyo International Gift Show and interiorlifestyle Tokyo, Japanese buyers and editors can see the product in person. Send selected editors a short Japanese invitation with your booth number and what's new. For European and US shows, send a separate Japanese release in Japanese business hours: Japan is 8 hours ahead of Paris and Frankfurt in January, and 14 hours ahead of New York.

Prepare photography and samples. Lifestyle editors often shoot products themselves or want calm interior images and clean cut-outs. Have production samples in Japan with Japanese labeling, and say clearly whether each is a loan or a gift.

Keep the show story going. "Shown at Ambiente" or "award winner at interiorlifestyle Tokyo" is a news peg for the months after. Follow up within days with every editor you met. See trade show PR in Japan: before, during and after and turning a trade-show launch into Japanese media coverage.

Where Gloture fits

We help overseas lifestyle, design and gift brands connect their trade show season with Japanese media: Japanese product stories and releases, briefings timed to magazine lead times, invitations to editors at Tokyo shows, and samples and follow-up afterward. We don't book stands, build booths or act as a distributor. Product PR in Japan starts from US$2,500. We don't guarantee coverage; editors decide what they feature. To check your timing, start a Japan PR Review.

Frequently asked questions

Should we exhibit at Ambiente or Maison&Objet?

Ambiente reported more exhibitors in 2026 and publishes its prices, which makes budgeting easier. Maison&Objet centers on design and decoration. Both take place in January 2027, two weeks apart, so choose by where your target buyers go.

Is Tokyo International Gift Show open to the public?

It's run for retail and distribution buyers, and we found no public days. Japanese media coverage comes from editors you invite or brief, not from consumers walking the floor.

How far ahead should we brief Japanese magazines about a trade show launch?

Two to three months before the issue you're aiming for. For a late-January or February show, that means briefing editors in November or December with images and samples ready.
